      Czech Republic vs Turkey Predictions

The hosts have already qualified after an excellent showing in this group and the Netherlands will be desperately hoping that they are going to do them a favour here. With Iceland and Czech Republic through in the automatic positions it is between the Dutch and Turkey for the play-off place and right now Turkey hold all the aces with a 2 point cushion thanks to their thumping 3-0 win last month when the sides met in Konya.

It extended Turkey’s unbeaten run which now stretches to 11 months and their recovery from losing their first two games in this group has been excellent. They need 4 points from their final 2 games to guarantee 3rd place with Iceland still to come to Turkey next week.

They are quite a positive side and not lacking in midfield craft and creativity. They have only failed to score in 1 of their 8 qualifiers and given both teams have netted in all 8 matches involving Czech Republic so far in this group, backing both teams to score again here at 5/6 looks like an excellent bet.

The hosts may use this game to experiment a little, as is their right given there is now nothing riding on it for them. That won’t disappoint the Turks but they still will know it will be tough against a Czech side that has an outstanding home record in European Championship qualifying having won 25 of their 29 home games in the competition since the split of Czechoslovakia.

Few have had as little riding on it as this one though and a Turkey side that have been playing as well as they have for many years are capable of getting a result. It will be a tough ask for them to win the game but the Czech’s aren’t brilliant at the back so you can certainly see them scoring. They’d certainly take a point and a 1-1 draw looks a likely outcome in this one and can be backed at 5/1 and would leave Turkey needing a win next week at home to Iceland to secure a play-off spot and eliminate the Netherlands.
