Denmark vs North Macedonia Predictions

Danes can deliver the goods

Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark have to successfully navigate their way through Path D to seal their place in the World Cup this summer and they should have few concerns swatting aside North Macedonia in Copenhagen.

The Danes played second fiddle to Scotland in Group C of World Cup qualifying but they have lost only five of their 24 internationals since November 23, two of which were against Spain and other defeats coming against Portugal, Germany and Scotland.

But North Macedonia are not at the same level as those opponents and, having finished third behind Belgium and Wales in Group J, they could be considered one of the weakest qualifiers.

North Macedonia were humiliated 7-1 away at Wales in their last World Cup qualifier in November and that came on the back of draws with Belgium, Kazakhstan and Latvia.

In 2024, Denmark recorded Nations League victories at home to Switzerland, Serbia and Portugal, all of which were accompanied by a clean sheet, while they held Scotland to a goalless draw in World Cup qualifying in September and built on that with a 3-1 success over Greece.

Keeping things tight and compact will be the strategy for North Macedonia and they tend to be embroiled in low-scoring affairs, with nine of their last 13 games going under 2.5 goals.

Blagoja Milevski’s side lack the attacking talent to trouble the Danes, who have a squad packed with talent from across Europe’s elite leagues, and that points to a straightforward home win.

Denmark have kept six clean sheets in their last 11 internationals and they can see off North Macedonia without conceding, with 2-0 the most likely scoreline.
