Derby County vs Bolton Predictions
Derby got a much needed win and performance in perhaps the biggest game of their season so far in midweek. They hammered 4th place Hull 4-0 at the iPro to give themselves a much needed boost and perhaps give themselves the mental edge should they encounter Hull in the play-offs which looks a real possibility. The Rams still have some work to do to make sure they make the top 6 though. They are currently in 6th place but hold a 4 point advantage on Cardiff in 7th and with a home game against the league’s bottom club here they should at least maintain that lead.
Bolton will be relegated if they fail to win this match and even if they were to pull off a shock victory, it will only really be delaying the inevitable. Given they haven’t won away from home all season it is hard to see that happening. They have gone 10 matches without a win since beating Rotherham in February and have lost all of the last 4 conceding 9 goals in their last two away games alone. They were beaten 6-0 at Bristol City and were 3-0 down by half-time at Brentford in midweek so this could be a long afternoon against one of the best footballing sides in the league.
There have been over 2.5 goals in 9 of Bolton’s last 10 away games and they have lost 8 of them. Derby have won all of their last 4 home games and clearly come into this full of confidence following their big midweek win over promotion rivals. This has the potential to get ugly for Bolton, who look completely devoid of any sort of belief now so consider backing Derby to win and over 2.5 goals at Evens.
