Derby County vs Ipswich Predictions
Derby will play Hull in the play-offs next week so avoiding injuries will be one priority here but they’d also love to go into that game with the confidence boost of a win. They could also secure a home 2nd leg if they win this which would be advantageous but is dependent on Hull slipping up in their game. The Rams are in good form having gone 6 matches unbeaten and they were within minutes of winning at 3rd place Brighton on Monday after a strong showing that certainly bodes well for their Premier League ambitions. Derby have also won 5 of their last 6 home games, conceding only 2 goals in that period so will be confident here.
Ipswich had play-off hopes of their own until not long ago but a torrid run of form saw them slip out of contention. They’ve only won 5 of their last 20 matches in all competitions and had gone 7 games without a win prior to their 3-2 win over already relegated MK Dons last weekend. This will be another chance perhaps to have a look at one or two younger players and they could still finish in 7th which would be by no means a disgrace given their budget is considerably inferior to one or two of the other clubs including opponents Derby.
With Ipswich not playing particularly well and Derby in good form, especially at home, you have to favour the Rams here. They may make one or two changes with keeping players fresh for the play-offs in mind but they have one of the strongest squads in this league and anyone who comes in will not necessarily weaken the side and all their players will be motivated to earn their place in the side for the two games against Hull after this. Derby are really looking good now under Darren Wassall and backing Derby to win at 4/5 looks good value here and they might well be worth a flutter to secure promotion via the play-offs too.
