      Derby vs Brighton Predictions

Given Brighton are yet to lose all season long, it is a bit of a surprise to see that Derby are odds on to win this game with most bookies. That is testament to the quality that Paul Clement’s side possess but is also a bit disrespectful to a Brighton side that nobody expected to be topping the table heading into the busy festive period.

They have overcome obstacle after obstacle to maintain their unbeaten run. Trips to Sheffield Wednesday, Reading and Burnley in recent weeks all looked like games where Brighton’s unbeaten start might go but they ground out a draw on each occasion.

Then only last weekend, Chris Hughton’s men found themselves in unchartered territory in that they were 2 goals down against Charlton at the interval. However once again the Seagulls showed their character to fight back and win 3-2 thanks to an excellent 2nd half comeback.

Therefore there is no reason to think that they cannot overcome a 20th hurdle here even though it is likely to be their sternest examination to date. Derby have only lost 1 of their last 14 matches but against the stronger and better organised sides, they’ve often struggled to break down the door.

Against Blackburn, Burnley and last time out at Sheffield Wednesday they’ve been left frustrated and were restricted to goalless draws, meanwhile after falling 1 behind early at local rivals Nottingham Forest they also failed to find that breakthrough.

Brighton would certainly take a point from this game and will set their stall out to keep things tight and hopefully nick a goal on the break or from a set-piece and that might again cause the Rams frustration.

Derby have on paper the stronger squad but they aren’t the finished article yet and with confidence so high in the Brighton camp, the visitors are capable of grinding out another result here and you can back them to do that at 17/20.

It’s unlikely to be a goal-fest but is worth noting that both clubs have scored in all of Brighton’s last 4 matches and that could be the case again here although 3 points is likely to elude them this time.

At 11/2 the value bet here in the correct scoreline market looks to be the 1-1 draw.
