      Eintracht Braunschweig vs Stuttgart Predictions

Eintracht Braunschweig, who topped the table over the winter break, find themselves 4th in the Bundesliga 2 following a remarkably weak start to 2017. Hosting league leaders Stuttgart does give the Lions an opportunity to close the gap between themselves and the coveted top two and potential promotion, although this is easier said than done – Braunschweig have been waiting over 30 years since their last win against Stuttgart.

Stuttgart’s blazing start to 2017 has seen them move from 3rd to 5 points clear at the top. Heading into this off the back of five consecutive wins, three of which were won to nil, Stuttgart are no doubt the more confident team ahead of Monday.

Stuttgart are the slight favourites here at 7/5 with bet365 and we feel backing them “0.0 Asian Handicap” at 33/40 is the safest option here for the following reasons:

Eintracht Braunschweig may currently hold the 2nd best home record in the German second tier, but 2017 has seen the Lions’ perform much worse at the Eintracht Stadion. Braunschweig have taken just 1 point in two matches at home to relegation struggling sides, suffering their first home defeat of the season against St. Pauli (2-1 defeat) and drawing against bottom of the table Erzgebirge Aue (1-1 draw).

Stuttgart’s two wins from two on the road puts them comfortably top of the away form table overall (W6 D2 L3), while the influence of momentum should also be on their side. Stuttgart’s Simon Terodde is the man in goal-scoring form. He’s netted four from his last four outings and his goal in Stuttgart’s 2-0 win at home to Kaiserslautern last weekend made him top goalscorer in the Bundesliga 2 (15 goals from 20 apperances). Hence, he’d be our choice for an anytime scorer here (odds to follow).

Regarding a correct score bet, Stuttgart have scored exactly 2 goals in four of their five matches in the new year. Against a Braunschweig side whose form is slipping and have kept a clean sheet in just 18% of their matches at home this season, we feel the visitors should be able to keep up this tempo. However, Braunschweig also haven’t failed to score in any home match either. As such, a Stuttgart 2-1 win at 17/2 is a decent shout here.
