Emmen vs PEC Zwolle Predictions

Emmen were beaten 2-1 away at Willem II last weekend but return to more familiar surroundings on Friday night while visiting Zwolle picked up their first point of the new season against Sparta Rotterdam and will be aiming to follow that up with their first win.

All of the stats suggest we will be treated to over 2.5 goals when Emmen host Zwolle on Friday night and we’ve backed Zwolle to just do enough to claim all three points.

Three of the pairs’ last six meetings have produced over 2.5 goals and Zwolle have won four of their last six encounters with Emmen, three of which have produced at least three goals. The last encounter between the pair ended 1-1 earlier in the summer when the pair met for a friendly but Zwolle got the double over Emmen in the Eredivisie last season, winning 3-0 and 1-0.

The performances of both of these teams over the last month adds more weight to our prediction of over 2.5 goals being scored on Friday as four of Emmen’s and five of Zwolle’s last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals, and Emmen have lost their last two games in which at least three goals have been scored.

Emmen have lost three of their last five matches in all competitions but Zwolle haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last three away games, so while we are backing the visitors to win on Friday we’re also expecting Emmen to score at least one goal. Zwolle haven’t won so far this season and they haven’t kept a single clean sheet either but they do tend to perform well against Emmen and this is why we believe the visitors will claim their first win of the season.

We’re confident that over 2.5 goals will be scored when these two sides meet on Friday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Zwolle. Neither side are playing at their best in the early stages of the new season but Zwolle have an excellent record against Emmen and got the domestic double over their hosts in the last campaign. There isn’t likely to be much between these two sides and Emmen will get chances to score but we’ve gone with a final score of 2-1 to Zwolle after they picked up their first point of the new season last weekend.
