Lionesses can put poor build up behind them

After winning Euro 2022 last year, England Women will be looking to follow it up with a successful World Cup campaign and they can get their tournament off to a flyer against Haiti, despite a less-than-ideal build up.

They lost for the first time in four years against Australia in April and followed it with a goalless draw against Portugal at the start of July, but a 6-1 thrashing of Belgium in February shows they are capable of blowing teams away and outsiders Haiti should be worries.

The rank outsiders have lost four successive games heading into their first ever World Cup match, shipping 11 goals in the process. All of these came against inferior opposition to the European champions and they could find themselves on the wrong end of a hiding on Saturday.

Haiti lost 5-0 to Portugal late last year and England have blown away Japan, Belgium and South Korea since November, the latter of whom beat Haiti in their warm-up friendly this month. Two of these were 4-0 triumphs, so backing England on the -3 handicap along with another 4-0 victory appeals.
