Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

England have scored in nine consecutive games and the Netherlands have only failed to score in one of their last 13. Both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between these sides and that pattern is expected to continue.

England Women 2-1

Reason for tip

Goals at both ends are expected and England can edge this game. The Lionesses are in need of a result after defeat to France last time out and they have a decent record against the Dutch, with three wins in the last four meetings, so back them to record a 2-1 success.

Alessia Russo To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Alessia Russo was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet against France but she can put that right with a goal against the Netherlands. The 26-year-old hit 12 goals in 21 WSL games for Arsenal last season and had scored in back-to-back England games prior to the defeat to France.

England Women vs Netherlands Women Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in each of the last four head-to-head meetings.
  • England have scored in nine consecutive games.
  • The Netherlands have scored in 12 of their last 13 games.

Pivotal moment for Lionesses

After defeat to France in the opening round of fixtures, England know they need a positive result against the Netherlands on Wednesday if they are to stand any chance of defending their European title.

The Dutch kicked off their own Euro 2025 bid with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wales and after that result their priority will be avoiding defeat.

In some respects the Lionesses were a little unlucky against France as Alessia Russo had a goal harshly ruled out for offside when the game was still goalless, although on the balance of play the French were deserved winners. That performance suggests England look capable of beating this Oranje side but the better angle could be backing both teams to score given what is at stake.

Both teams capable of scoring

England have scored in each of their last nine games and going back further they have failed to score in just two of their last 29 games across all competitions and friendlies.

The Netherlands have scored in 12 of their last 13 fixtures, and both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between these sides.

The Lionesses have won three of the last four meetings and they’re also the side in greater need here. This should be a tight game but England can edge it and a 2-1 win for Sarina Wiegman’s side has a chance in the correct score market.

Russo was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet against France but she can put that right with a goal against the Netherlands. The 26-year-old hit 12 goals in 21 WSL games for Arsenal last season and had scored in back-to-back England games prior to the defeat to France.
