Rangers vs Celtic Predictions
- Rangers won 3-0 the last time these sides met at Ibrox.
- Celtic are winless in their last two games.
- Celtic have three defeats in their last four competitive away games.
Rangers seeking Old Firm response
Rangers saw their Champions League hopes ended in empathic fashion on Wednesday as they were thrashed 5-1 by PSV in Eindhoven, and now have to pick themselves up for a home Old Firm clash on Sunday.
Celtic also have a few issues to contend with as they have failed to score in their last two games (D1, L1), but they still lead the way in the Premiership and they hold a one-point advantage over their Glasgow rivals.
Rangers have recent inspiration
The Gers claimed a 3-0 win when these sides last met at this venue just over three months ago, and they produced a thoroughly dominant performance that day.
The 5-1 loss to PSV perhaps looks worse than their performances over the two legs actually were as they held the Dutch giants to a 2-2 draw at Ibrox and were in the tie until going 3-1 down in the away leg in the second half, as the game and their Champions League aspirations slipped away.
If Rangers are able to recover from that defeat, then a home game against their fierce rivals may be the idea. opportunity to bounce back. Celtic are yet to really get going in Brendan Rodgers’ second stint in charge and their away form is a concern, with three defeats in their last four games going back to last season.
A hard-fought 2-1 win for Rangers is the correct score prediction despite Celtic’s attacking woes of late. The Parkhead club have only failed to score in one of the last 10 Old Firm games, while Rangers have just one clean sheet in their last five games so may need to score twice to secure the victory.
