Genoa face uphill task as survival hopes dwindle

Juventus have guaranteed a top-four Serie A finish after Roma dropped points against Bologna last Sunday, meaning Friday’s clash with Genoa will have greater ramifications at the bottom of the table, where Genoa are desperately trying to avoid dropping into Serie B after losing four of their last five games.

The most recent defeat suffered by Alexander Blessin’s men, a 1-0 derby reverse to Sampdoria, could be the most damaging yet, leaving them eight points below their local rivals and three points behind Cagliari.
