Everton vs West Ham United Predictions
- Everton have kept clean sheets in all three of their games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium
- West Ham have lost five of their six league and cup games this season
- Both teams have scored in only two of the Toffees’ last nine games in all competitions
Change in manager may not result in immediate improvement
West Ham have already given up on manager Graham Potter five games into the new Premier League season following four defeats and they have turned to the services of Nuno Espirito Santo in a bid to transform their fortunes.
A new manager can always trigger an initial upturn in form, but Nuno has a tough job on his hands to enhance a lack of confidence in the squad and 13 goals conceded in five outings suggests it could take time to patch up their shaky defence.
Sunderland, Chelsea and Tottenham have all proved at least three goals too good for the Hammers this season and once they have fallen behind they have struggled to show the character required to remain competitive.
Opponents Everton are bidding to respond from back-to-back defeats, having lost 2-1 in the Merseyside derby to Liverpool at Anfield before exiting the EFL Cup at the hands of Premier League basement boys Wolves.
Toffees settling in well to their new home
But Everton, at their new home of the Hill Dickinson Stadium, have been far more convincing on their own patch with a 2-0 victory against Brighton built on by a goalless draw with Aston Villa.
The Toffees have injected real attacking flair to their line-up over the summer, with Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry all drafted in, and they have lost only one of their last four Premier League meetings with West Ham.
With Iliman Ndiaye also continuing to excel in the final third and Moyes’s men well-organised and defensively sound, Everton can maintain their unbeaten start at their new base.
Everton have kept clean sheets in all three of their games at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which also featured a 2-0 win over Mansfield in the EFL Cup, and there is a sheer reliance on Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta to provide the Hammers’ spark.
So the Toffees can make it seven points from three home games against West Ham and, although Nuno should make the visitors tougher to beat given his defensive approach, one goal could prove enough to land the spoils.
Only one of the last 13 league meetings between these clubs featured more than three goals so backing Everton to win to nil looks a solid bet, with 1-0 the way to go for correct-score punters.
