      Excelsior vs Willem II Predictions

Excelsior have lost five of their last six Dutch Eredivise games, a streak that they only snapped courtesy of a scrappy 0-0 draw against Vitesse last weekend. It has been a difficult season already for a club that has every chance of getting relegated this season. Still, they’re a club that has good experience of being in these difficult and scrappy battles. We’ll bank on them to battle hard over the next couple of months.

Willem II enter this game on the back of a pair of draws, first 1-1 with Groningen, followed by a 0-0 draw against Heracles at the weekend. They’ve also been dragged into demotion conversations, but have shown a little extra grit of late picking up eight points in their last five games.

It’s an important game for both clubs, neither score a lot of goals, but neither can really afford to purely play for just the one point.

      Head-to-Head

Excelsior won the previous Dutch Eredivise clash between the two sides by a 3-2 margin. Willem II got the better of the match-up last season, winning the away game 3-2 and drawing 1-1 at home.

      Team News

Defenders Bas Kuipers and Jurgen Mattheij are expected to be unavailable for this game for Excelsior, while Bruno Andrade, Terrell Ondraan will miss out for Willem II through injury, and Frank van der Struijk is sidelined via suspension.

      Reason for Betting Tip

While both teams naturally play a defensive game, we just think that both will need to push for those three points, both will see more of a football than they might ordinarily and both have some players up front who can score goals. Everything added together should lead to a back and forth game where some goals are scored.
