Falkenberg vs Kalmar Predictions
This Saturday’s clash in the Swedish Allsvenskan is a very significant one at the bottom of the table. Falkenberg are currently propping up the division and could really use a win to act as some kind of springboard for their season. They’d move to just 3 points behind Kalmar were they to win this match but the implications of defeat would be serious even at this stage in the campaign.
Kalmar will see this as a good chance to put some distance between themselves and the drop-zone. They’ve only managed to take 1 point from their last 3 games but they have been competitive all season and have only lost twice in 10 matches since the opening day, with a host of draws really preventing themselves from moving further up the standings.
They’ve certainly been much more impressive than Falkenberg. In fairness they are in their first season back at this level having won promotion from the Superettan last term. Things started well enough as they won their opening game but it’s just 3 points from 10 matches since then. They picked up a decent point against fellow strugglers Helsingborg last time out but they really need to end their 10 game winless streak here.
That will be easier said than done and they will struggle to break down what is a strong Kalmar defence. The visitors have conceded just 12 times in 11 matches this season and have only let in 3 more goals than leaders Malmo, the side with the best defensive record in the Allsvenskan. However they have been short on firepower themselves and as a result, a huge 82% of Kalmar matches this term have produced under 2.5 goals.
Falkenberg meanwhile are the division’s joint lowest scorers. They’ve scored just 0.4 goals per game on average at home so far, which is a dire record and one that really doesn’t bode well heading towards the midway point in the season. They do at least have a 40% home clean sheet ratio though and Kalmar don’t boast an enormous amount of firepower either so this is certainly unlikely to be a game that produces a great number of chances.
Given that, backing Under 2.5 Goals could be worth considering here.
The visitors have a bit more about them overall though and they have won all of the last 5 meetings between the clubs. Backing Kalmar to Win to Nil could also be worth a punt at decent odds, given how poor Falkenberg have been this term in the final third.
