Pepi providing FC Dallas with finishing finesse
FC Dallas are odds-on to maintain their unbeaten home record on Monday against a Vancouver Whitecaps side still winless on the road.
The Toros may have won just two of their ten MLS outings so far this season (D4, L4), but they have proved impossible to beat at Toyota Stadium – as Eastern Conference leaders New England found out to their cost last time out.
A brace from home-grown teenage forward Ricardo Pepi proved the difference in a 2-1 Toros win and reports suggest he could have had a third as Dallas came closest to adding to the scoreline.
Luchi Gonzalez’s team have a lot of young players coming through so it is perhaps not so surprising that they are much better with a home crowd behind their backs.
The Whitecaps are now at the foot of the Western Conference, but they can take some confidence from a 2-2 away draw at unbeaten leaders Seattle last week.
Vancouver’s defence managed to hold out against a wave of Sounders’ second-half attacks to register the team’s first point in six games.
The Canadian club have conceded 12 goals in their last five, however, so we don’t expect them to keep an in-form Pepi out in a probable 2-1 defeat on Monday.
Take the Toros to win and both teams to score because the Whitecaps have managed four goals in their last three away trips while Dallas have conceded in their last five homes.
