FC Dordrecht vs FC Oss Predictions
Oss racked up a sequence of four wins on the spin in November to join the fringes of the automatic promotion race, however Klaas Wels’ side have really let things slip in their last three games. Oss have collected just one point from a possible nine, and are now seven points behind leaders Sparta Rotterdam going into the final round of fixtures before Christmas. Can TOP stop the rot at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion this Friday when they square off against 18th placed Dordrecht?
Oss dropped away tamely to finish 15th in 2017/18 after a strong start to the campaign, and supporters must be fearing the same for their club this time around following a dismal spell of results and performances.
After four straight league wins, Oss should have been brimming with confidence going into their match day 16 clash at home to Roda JC, but they were deservedly blown away 0-5 by the Kerkrade outfit, before going down 1-0 at Jong Ajax a week later.
Oss seemingly had a great opportunity to restore some order last Friday as they entertained 19th placed Helmond Sport at Frans Heesen Stadion, but they failed to kill the game off after taking the lead 62 minutes in through Koen van der Biezen and ultimately paid the price as the visitors levelled in stoppage time to earn a point.
Oss are still firmly in the Play-off mix, but they have now fallen to 6th in the standings and will be desperate to sign off for Christmas with a win to ensure they begin the New Year with a decent buffer over the teams chasing a spot in the top nine. Their advantage over the others could be reduced to just two points should they be beaten here this Friday.
And make no mistake, Oss will have to shape up to avoid another embarrassing result, even though they’re taking on a Dordrecht side who are 12 places below and 20 points behind them in the Eerste Divisie standings.
Dordrecht had been enjoying a decent little spell under Scott Calderwood who replaced the outgoing Gerard De Nooijer in November, and five points from games against Almere City (1-1), RKC (2-0) and Roda JC (2-2) was a respectable return to say the least considering their league position.
However, Schappenkoppen were brought back down to earth last week as Jong Utrecht ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at Sportpark De Westmaat, and it will be interesting to see how the hosts respond here and whether Calderwood has really impacted the morale and resolve in the Dordrecht squad.
Dordrecht are unbeaten in their last three games against Oss at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion which should give them encouragement, though there’s not really enough of a case here overall to back the hosts at around the 6/4 mark.
