FC Dordrecht vs FC Volendam Predictions

Everything looks set fair for a real scrap in this bottom half of the table clash on match day 12. Volendam continued their good progress under new boss Hans De Koning last week with an impressive 3-1 win at home to Jong Ajax which lifted them up to 14^th in the standings. But Palingboeren are still to land a victory on the road this term, and they face off here against a Dordrecht side who fought out a decent 2-2 draw at Jong PSV last time out.

Volendam have been gradually improving in recent weeks since Hans de Koning replaced the outgoing Misha Salden, but last week’s result over defending champions Jong Ajax signalled a huge leap forward for Palingboeren.

They were superb against Michael Reiziger’s side and fully deserved their 3-1 victory after goals from Boy Deul, Tieje ten Den and Nick Doodeman, which hauled them up to 14^th in the league and extended their unbeaten run to five.

Volendam’s woeful start to the campaign under Salden means they still have plenty to do to get themselves comfortably into mid table, but another win here against Dordrecht could leave them just two points shy of the top ten come the end of the weekend.

One monkey Volendam still have to remove from their backs however is the fact they’ve not triumphed away from home this term, and whilst their unbeaten streak has marked tremendous progress, they did only manage draws at 17^th placed FC Eindhoven and 18^th placed Helmond Sport.

It means this Friday’s showdown with 19^th placed Dordrecht is no gimme for Volendam, and the hosts will be in good spirits after claiming a 2-2 draw at in form Jong PSV last week.

Dordrecht have been extremely poor overall this season in losing seven of their 11 league outings, although only two of those defeats have come at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion.

Gerard de Nooijer’s men have been a lot harder to beat in Dordrecht with only Telstar (1-4) and Twente (0-2) getting the better of them, and they’ve claimed four points from their last two home matches after a 3-1 win against Cambuur and a 1-1 draw with Jong AZ.

So it’s fair to say that Dordrecht will be equally confident of a result heading into match day 12, but like Volendam, we’re also tentative about backing De Nooijer’s men to land the spoils.

With five draws from the last eight Eerste Divisie meetings, recent encounters between these teams have been very tight and we can only see a similar outcome this time around.

Volendam need to show that they can win on the road to be a feasible betting proposition whilst Dordrecht are readily swerved as favourites based purely on their dismal strike rate of one success in 11 league matches in 2018/19.

At decent odds  the draw represents a good punt here looking at recent history between the pair, and we’re also going for a 2-2 score line, which is how things finished up in last season’s corresponding fixture.
