FC Eindhoven vs Twente Predictions

FC Eindhoven stopped their rot in fine style last week with a tremendous 0-3 win over a lacklustre Jong Ajax. But any joy gleaned by David Nascimento’s side from their first success of the campaign could be short lived, as they prepare to host 3^rd placed club FC Twente at Jan Louwers Stadion on match day eight. Can the underdogs pick up another positive result, or will the Enschede outfit justify odds-on favouritism?

Goals from Alvin Daniels, Collin Seedorf and Elton Kabangu lifted a ton of pressure off boss David Nascimento last week as FC Eindhoven claimed their first victory of the season at Jong Ajax.

The 0-3 win lifted Eindhoven up to 17^th in the standings and will have restored plenty of pride and belief in a team that had failed to score in five previous outings.

Nascimento would’ve hoped for an easier opportunity on match day eight to try and build on that result and establish some forward momentum, but instead FC Eindhoven ready themselves to face promotion favourites FC Twente at Jan Louwers Stadion.

And despite the host’s excellent showing and display of resilience last week, it’s hard to see past an away victory on match day eight.

Twente are level on 16 points with Almere City, Sparta Rotterdam and leaders by goal difference Go Ahead Eagles at the top of Eerste Divisie, and they’ve started to show their class in recent outings.

After a setback at home to Oss on match day four, Twente have cruised to three consecutive league victories against Dordrecht (0-2), Telstar (1-3) and latterly Jong PSV (2-1), whilst they also knocked Eredivisie’s Groningen out from the KNVB Beker last week.

Marino Pusic’s men have seven points from a possible nine on the road so far on their return to the Dutch second tier, and they’re scoring at a rate of over two goals per game with 15 netted in their seven outings overall.

After recording the worst defensive record in the league last season, FC Eindhoven have been much better at the back this term, despite the fact they’ve lost five of their seven league games (just nine goals conceded), but they’ve conceded twice against all three of Twente’s fellow co-leaders.

We expect Twente to match their promotion rivals and secure a cosy success here, just as they did when the teams last met in the KNVB Beker in 2017/18, a match the Enschede outfit won 3-0.

We think FC Eindhoven will put up a better fight on the back of their victory on match day seven, but we still envisage Twente winning to nil by a 0-2 score line. It’s still hard to ignore Eindhoven’s failings in front of goal prior to match day seven, whilst Twente have conceded just eight goals so far in their seven league games.
