FC Ingolstadt vs Heidenheim Predictions

Schanzer should perform better at home

Ingolstadt host their first 2.Bundesliga home game in over two years as die Schanzer take on Heidenheim at Audi-Sportpark on Saturday.

The newly-promoted club began the season with a disappointing 3-0 away loss to 3.Liga champions Dynamo Dresden as coach Roberto Patzold had to do without nine injured players.

His youthful line-up wilted in the heat as the East Germans dominated the contest in impressive fashion.

Ingolstadt should fare better back on home soil where they are unbeaten in their last 17 leaghue games, albeit at the lower level.

Heidenheim are not in great form themselves, having drawn 0-0 at Paderborn in a game of few chances.

Frank Schmidt was not too fussed by the lack of good football on show from his side, who have been steady in some low-scoring pre-season games.

Schmidt’s team were reliant on set-piece (30%)and counter-attack goals (10%) last season and seem a bit predictable from open play.

We’re expecting a draw when these meet as Heidenheim’s decent away record faces up to Ingolstadt’s solid home form.

Goals could be thin on the ground too but we’ll just prefer 1-1 to 0-0 as a correct score play because Heidenheim did score in seven of their last eight aways in 2020-21.
