Liverpool and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Liverpool have won four of their last six games and they have a perfect record in Europe with nine points from three games. The Reds should be too strong for Fenerbahce but the Turkish giants have scored in each of their last 16 competitive home games and can at least strike in defeat.

Liverpool 2-1

Reason for tip

Fener were thrashed 6-0 at Villa Park earlier in the league pgase but with home advantage they can keep things on the right side of respectable and a 2-1 away win has a chance. Fener haven’t conceded more than twice in any game at their Sukru Saracoglu Stadium this season, while Liverpool have only scored more than two goals in one of their last 12 away games.

Alexis Mac Allister To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Alexis Mac Allister has been a threat in Europe for Liverpool this season with three goals in as many games, two starts and one five-minute substitute appearance. He appeals as a bit of an outside contender to get on the scoresheet in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce vs Liverpool Predictions

  • Liverpool have six wins in their last nine games (D1, L2)
  • Fenerbahce were crushed 6-0 at Aston Villa earlier in the league phase
  • Fener have scored in 16 consecutive home games

Liverpool can raid the Sukru Saracoglu

Liverpool saw a five-game unbeaten run ended by Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday but they can maintain their perfect record in Europe with a win at Fenerbahce on Wednesday in one of the early Champions League games but it may not be completely straightforward.

Liverpool have a mixed record against Turkish clubs in Europe with seven wins and six defeats in 15 previous meetings.

The Anfield outfit knocked Galatasaray out of the Champions League last season but lost to Gala in the league phase and in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

Somewhat surprisingly, Wednesday’s fixture will be the first time they have ever faced Fenerbahce. The visitors are the side in the better form despite their defeat to the Gunners as they were unbeaten in five, with four wins, prior to that loss and they should have too much for their hosts.

Fener are out of form in general as they have lost back-to-back domestic games and they have found life tough in Europe with just two points from three games. The Turkish giants have struggled against Premier League opponents recently as they went down 6-0 at Aston Villa earlier in the league phase and were dumped out of the Europa League last season.

The hosts can at least strike in defeat as Fener have scored in each of their last 16 competitive home games, in a run stretching back to their defeat to Forest back in February, while Liverpool have conceded six goals across five trips this season.

Fener may have been put to the sword at Villa Park but with home advantage they can keep things on the right side of respectable and a 2-1 away win has a chance. Fenerbahce have held a strong Roma side to a 1-1 draw at this venue and they haven’t conceded more than twice in any game at their Sukru Saracoglu Stadium this season, while Liverpool have only scored more than two goals in one of their last 12 away games.

Alexis Mac Allister is yet to score in the Premier League but he’s been more of a threat in Europe. The Liverpool midfielder has three goals in as many games in the Champions League, two starts and one five-minute substitute appearance, and he looks an outside contender to get on the scoresheet in Istanbul.
