Figueirense vs Chapecoense Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

It has been an eventful week for Figueirense. They were beaten 2-1 last weekend at Gremio and only courtesy of a last minute Bobo goal for the hosts. It certainly wouldn’t be classed as an horrendous result but it did see them slip into the bottom four and the next day they sacked coach Vinícius Eutrópio. The fact that Argel Fucks was available having been dismissed by Internacional seems clearly to have played a part in that decision and the 41 year old who has twice previously managed the club was re-installed as boss within 24 hours of Eutrópio’s departure.

He’ll be warmly received and although their league position is precarious, Figueirense’s home record is actually very good. They are yet to lose at home in the league this term, winning 3 of their last 5 at Estádio Orlando Scarpelli and Fucks was on the wrong end of one of those defeats when his Internacional side were beaten 3-2 last month.

Chapecoense are 3 points and 4 places better off than their opponents but also have a new manager at the helm with Caio Júnior just 4 games into his reign. 3 of those have been defeats including the last 2 where Chape have been beaten 3-0 at Santos and 2-0 at home by Corinthians. Clearly those were tough matches against strong sides but the fact that they’ve conceded 16 goals in their last 6 away games and have the worst defensive record in the division makes you worry for Chape.

Given they are leaking goals and given Figueirense’s strong home form and the fact the return of their former coach ought to give them a boost at least in the short-term, a home win looks the most likely outcome here. The Florianópolis club have gone 8 months without losing at home in the league and backing Figueirense to Win at 6/5 looks a smart move here.
