Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Predictions

  • Manchester United have conceded in 12 of their 13 competitive games this season.
  • Tottenham have conceded in each of their last six Premier League matches.
  • Manchester United have won three of their last four trips to Tottenham.

Spurs struggle for momentum under Santo

Two managers under serious pressure go head-to-head on Saturday and both will be looking to bounce back after defeat last weekend.

Tottenham fell to a drab 1-0 loss away to West Ham to follow their defeat in Vitesse in the Europa Conference League. They did manage to see off Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but they have lost four of their last six Premier League matches and have shipped 13 goals in the process.

Shambolic defence on show for United

Manchester United’s last outing was less a football contest and more an abject humiliation as they lost 5-0 at home to arch-rivals Liverpool. It was the darkest day in the club’s recent history and the players will be itching to put things right.

While there were major issues all over the pitch at Old Trafford last weekend, the glaring problem was at the back. The five goals they conceded on Sunday afternoon made it 11 goals conceded in three matches and they have just one clean sheet in 13 competitive games this season.

Expect goals in London

Spurs may not have hit the heights of attacking output under Nuno Espirito Santo but they have scored in three of their four home league games this season and should find little problem scoring past this wayward Red Devils back line.

The hosts have conceded in six league games on the spin, however, and Manchester United have only failed to score in one of their last 14 competitive away games. Backing both teams to score is the way to go on Saturday.

Both of these sides are low on confidence but Manchester United could pull something out of the bag. They have lost just one of their last six meetings with Spurs and won three of their last four away games against them. With just two league draws between them in 18 combined games this season, I’m opting for a 2-1 win for Manchester United.

Tottenham predicted lineup: Lloris; Royal, Romero, Dier, Reguilon; Skipp, Hojbjerg; Moura, Ndombele, Son; Kane
