Fleetwood Town vs Shrewsbury Predictions
- Fleetwood are unbeaten in three games under Stephen Crainey
- Shrewsbury have lost their nine of their 11 away league matches this season
- The Cod Army are unbeaten in six outings against the Salopians
Crainey gets the nod
Stephen Crainey was put in temporary charge of Fleetwood following Simon Grayson’s sacking earlier this month, and the turnaround has been so dramatic that he has landed the job permanently.
The Cod Army were without a win in eight league matches before the Scot took charge, but he has overseen a run of two wins and a draw in three matches to lift them out of the relegation zone.
A meeting with struggling Shrewsbury looks like the perfect opportunity to notch up another home win. They have lost just one of their last five at Highbury and look much tighter in defence under their new management team.
Shrews awful on the road
Shrewsbury have one of the worst away records in the Football League. They have played 11 matches on the road in League One this season, losing nine and picking up just two points.
Steve Cotterill’s side have lost their last three on the road, including against second to bottom club Doncaster, while they have not kept a clean sheet on their travels all season.
They have won two of their last four, but those two victories were both on home soil and I suspect they will struggle in this one, especially as Salop have only recorded one victory at Fleetwood in their history.
I predict Fleetwood will continue their recent run by racking up another victory, predicting that they will do so with a 2-0 win.
