Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

St Mirren were held to a goalless draw after having zero shots on target against Arbroath, and they face a Forfar side that have seen under 2.5 goals land in each of their last ten competitive matches. Just 1.1 goals per game have been scored across these ten matches, while fewer than three goals have been scored in four of St Mirren’s last five in all competitions.

St Mirren 1-0

Reason for tip

There is a big gulf in quality between St Mirren and League Two outfit Forfar and that quality should win out on Tuesday, but Forfar have kept only conceded once in their last four competitive matches, so a low-scoring win for the top-flight side looks solid.

Forfar vs St Mirren Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in each of Forfar’s last ten competitive games.
  • St Mirren did not have a single shot on target against Arbroath.

St Mirren to edge tight game

St Mirren were held to a goalless draw before losing the penalty shootout to Arbroath in their Scottish League Cup opener, and another low-scoring affair could be on the cards against Forfar.

The hosts, who ply their trade in League Two, won their penalty shootout against fellow fourth-tier side Annan, but top-flight St Mirren represent a big step up in quality that they may be unable to bridge.

However, Tuesday’s favourites did not have a single shot on target in their trip to Arbroath, and Forfar will set up to frustrate their visitors.

Each of Forfar’s last ten competitive games have featured fewer than three goals, with an average of just 1.1 goals per game. Under 2.5 goals has been a winner in four of St Mirren’s last five competitive outings, too, so backing a low-scoring game appeals.

I do expect St Mirren to get their first win of the season, though, and, with Forfar failing to score in three of their last four matches a 1-0 correct score prediction looks solid.
