Fulham vs Birmingham Predictions
- Fulham have won eight of their 13 home Championship games this term, all by more than one goal.
- Birmingham have conceded ten goals in their last five away league games.
- Birmingham failed to score in seven of their last ten away Championship fixtures.
Marcos men have rediscovered their mojo
Fulham had not won in five Championship games and were coming off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield United when Birmingham City were originally due to visit Craven Cottage on Boxing Day.
But Marco Silva’s men have clicked back into top gear in the past two matches, putting seven without reply past Reading before hitting another six against Bristol City last Saturday. The Whites have accumulated a Football League best-tally of 64 goals in 25 games now and with Aleksandar Mitrovic helping himself to 27, don’t look like stopping anytime soon.
That doesn’t augur well for a Birmingham City side with only one away win in their last ten and that hasn’t scored in seven of those games.
Cottagers can keep a clean sheet against blunt Blues
So, despite, Fulham not having kept a home clean sheet in their last three, the ingredients are there this time for the Cottagers to win to nil. Fulham’s regular back four are a solid unit that oft-times are caught out by their own misadventure in bombing forward to attack.
It could happen again on Tuesday, but we feel Fulham will have more of a focus on blanking Birmingham after conceding twice in the first half at the weekend. The Blues have not scored on their last two visits to this corner of south west London and have failed to register in three of the last four contests against Fulham in all competitions.
We’re taking a view that a 2-0 correct score play offers the best chance of reward, despite the fact that Birmingham have conceded three and four in two of their last three road trips, because they average exactly two goals conceded across their lats five away from St Andrew’s.
