- Both teams have scored in seven of Fulham’s last 11 home games (all comps)
- William Osula has five goals in his last six games
Fulham close out campaign against Magpies
Fulham and Newcastle meet at Craven Cottage in the final round of Premier League fixtures of the season in a game where there is little at stake.
Neither of these sides can qualify for Europe as both are locked on 49 points, and they cannot finish eighth as Sunderland and Chelsea above them are playing each other.
For Fulham, the game seems certain to be the final match of Marco Silva’s five-year stint in charge as he is believed to have agreed to become the new Benrfica manager. Newcastle counterpart Eddie Howe is expected to remain in his post going into next season following speculation over his future in recent months.
Goals at both ends the starting point
This is effectively a dead-rubber so the best angle could be to focus on the goals markets rather than the result and backing both teams to score is the pick.
Both teams have scored in seven of Fulham’s last 11 home games across all competitions and they have just one clean sheet during that period. There have been goals at both ends in seven of Newcastle’s last eight games and they have conceded in all of those, and both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between these teams – including two this season.
Newcastle can claim the points
Fulham’s form has tailed off and Silva’s impending departure is unlikely to have a particularly positive effect on the squad, while Newcastle have enjoyed a bit of an end of season revival with seven points from the last available nine.
The Magpies have a pair of wins over Fulham this season, in the league and EFL Cup, and both of those were 2-1 successes. Both of those wins were at St James’ Park but the Cottagers have three defeats in their last five at home and could fall short again here.
The standout bet for this game could be an anytime effort for visiting forward William Osula, who has been key to Newcastle’s strong finish. Osula has five goals in his last six games and scored twice against West Ham last time out, he can add at least one more goal to his haul on Sunday.
