Gent vs Valencia Predictions
While Gent haven’t exactly taken Europe by storm, not that they were really expected to, they have at least been competitive in every game they’ve played in the competition so far. They drew their only home game so far 1-1 against Lyon and were only narrowly beaten 2-1 in trips to St Petersburg and last time out Valencia.
The Spaniards haven’t been enormously impressive but have bounced back well from losing their opening game at home to Zenit. A crucial 1-0 win away to Lyon prior to Gent’s visit to the Mestalla has helped them on to 6 points and a 5 point cushion on both the French and Belgian clubs.
They beat city rivals Levante 3-0 at home on Saturday to move up to 7th in La Liga but away from home they are nowhere near as strong. They have lost all of their last 3 domestic away games and are yet to score more than 1 goal on the road in any competition this season.
Gent are topping the Belgian Pro League again and are unbeaten in 17 matches at the GHELAMCO-arena. Given that and also given Valencia would probably take a draw from this game with the group situation favouring them at the moment, the hosts look really good value at 5/6 to get a result from the game.
They might not have quite enough attacking quality to win but another home 1-1 draw in Europe is a possibility for them and can be backed at 11/2.
