Can France perform an upset?

France were among the ante-post favourites to win Euro 2022, but it would still be a bit of a shock were they to defeat eight time champions Germany.

Corinne Diacre’s side required extra-time to beat the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, but they have been one of the most exciting teams to watch during the tournament, netting nine times in total.

Two of their games have contained three or more goals, with those same matches seeing both teams score, a 5-1 win over Italy and 2-1 defeat of Belgium.

Meanwhile there have also been in excess of two strikes in 13 of their last 17 outings in all competitions.

Germany gunning for glory

Germany have breezed into the semi-finals, winning each of their four games without conceding, though you suspect a free-flowing France will be their toughest opponents so far.

Two of their four outings have contained three or more goals, as have six of their last eight in all competitions, two of which saw both teams net.

In terms of the head-to-head between these two nations, it’s a year since they last met, when the Les Bleues won 1-0, but four of the last ten have seen neither side keep a clean sheet.

I think that both teams will score in this one and that there will be three or more goals across the 90 minutes, but suspect this could be the end of the road for France, with Germany winning 2-1 my correct score prediction.
