Getafe vs Athletic Bilbao Betting Tips

The Basques have had a busy month and their involvement in the Copa del Rey came to a close on Wednesday when they lost 3-1 at the Camp Nou and 5-2 on aggregate against Barcelona. That gives Ernesto Valverde and his men one fewer competition to concentrate on but tiredness could still be a factor here given they’ve had 3 games and 3 defeats against the Catalans over the past fortnight.

There were 5-2 winners in the league last weekend at home to local rivals Eibar but they are still 2 points outside the top six and 10 points off the top four heading into this one. Their away form has been mixed with a few good wins in there at tough places like Villarreal and Celta Vigo over the past few months but they’ve lost 4 of their last 6 overall on the road and this is a tough game.

Getafe are strong at home and had gone 8 games without a defeat overall prior to their 3-2 loss at Granada last weekend. That run has moved them in to the top half and they’d only be 2 points worse off than Athletic if they can win this.

They will certainly have the fresher legs given their Copa del Rey involvement ended in December. Getafe have only lost 1 of their 11 matches at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez since August and that was against leaders Barcelona. Therefore there is plenty of reason to think they can get something here and you can back them to avoid defeat at 3/4.
