Girona vs Tenerife Predictions

• Just two of Girona’s last 12 games have contained more than two goals
• There have been fewer than three strikes in six of Tenerife’s last eight outings

Girona hoping to reverse formbook

It is only a month since these two sides last met at Estadi Montilivi, and on that occasion Tenerife won 1-0, one of five defeats in the last ten games for Girona.

Míchel’s side, who finished one point below their opponents during the regular season, have seen five home fixtures in a row contain less than three goals, netting more than once on just two occasions.

Indeed, they have failed to net in two of their last three, while ten of their last dozen outings at all venues have seen two strikes or fewer.

Tenerife in good form

This has been a twelfth season outside of Spain’s top flight for Tenerife, but they saved their best for last, as after losing three in a row coming into the play-offs, they eased past Las Palmas 3-1 on aggregate.

Luis Miguel Ramis’ side have won six of their last ten, including four victories on the road, while they finished the Segunda campaign with the best away record in the division.

They also conceded fewer away goals than anybody else in the second tier, just 19 over 21 matches, with four of their last six on their travels containing two goals or fewer.

The trend for the first leg of the play-off final tends to be for games to be tight – seven of the 11 have had less than three goals, so that’s my initial prediction, while I think Tenerife could sneak a 1-0 victory.
