Greece vs Finland Predictions
Greece and Finland might not be in contention for Euro 2016 qualification, but this has the potential to be quite an interesting game pitting Mediterranean against Scandinavian.
Greece won Euro 2004 and built a reputation as a difficult to play against team in the years after that. They were a team with a clear strategy and a reputation. Unfortunately, those days appear to be a long way behind the national side. Some hope was gained last March when they stole a draw away against Hungary, but that point was sandwiched by back-to-back losses to Faroe Islands.
Their other point did come against Friday’s opponent. When they travelled to Finland, they came away with a 1-1 draw.
The Finns don’t appear to be much closer to tapping into any previously undiscovered footballing talent. They started their qualifying campaign off with a 3-1 win over Faroe Islands and a draw with Greece, but they’ve been beaten in four straight games since. They’ll probably be happy to see this part of the schedule rearing its head again.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. This isn’t the same Greece
This isn’t a Greece side that you can rely on to play and perform in a certain way. This isn’t a side that is guaranteed to perform at home. This isn’t a side that deserves to be favourites against Finland.
2. Better than even odds on Double Chance
In a game that will probably be low-scoring between two of the group’s weakest sides, to get a double chance bet at better than even odds is great. It will probably be a game of just one or two goals, and we can easily see Finland bundling one in some way or another.
3. Finland aren’t terrible (relatively!)
They gave N.Ireland a little bit of a game when they travelled their (losing 2-1) and they were only beaten 1-0 by a late goal and in a contest where they controlled possession. In fact, their away form has been superior to their home performances in many respects.
