Haiti vs Jamaica Predictions
Haiti are a much improved side and seem to get better with each passing game. In the past they have struggled to even organise enough matches for their players to really develop as a team but an impressive showing at the CONCACAF Gold Cup where they reached the Quarter Finals and were only narrowly beaten 1-0 by this week’s opponents Jamaica has shown they are on the up.
Since then they have comfortably seen off Grenada in the World Cup qualifying preliminary round and were 3-1 winners against El Salvador in a friendly match. Their first group game last week resulted in a narrow defeat but not a disgraceful one losing 1-0 away against 2014 World Cup Quarter Finalists Costa Rica. Certainly Haiti are no longer the whipping boys of Central American football and they could really play their part in this group.
By contrast Jamaica seem to have gone backwards since their impressive run to the final of the Gold Cup. They very nearly suffered a humiliating exit to Nicaragua in the preliminary round of Qualifying and were at one point 3-0 down in the tie before staging a 2nd leg fight-back.
They were beaten 3-0 by South Korea in a friendly last month and their World Cup qualifying group campaign got off to the worst possible start when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Panama on Saturday.
Haiti is a really tough place to go and win and they’ve only lost 2 home World Cup qualifiers since 1992. They are well capable of causing a minor upset here although at times they struggle for goals so perhaps it’s safer to back them in the ‘draw no bet’ market at 5/6 than in the win market.
However against a Jamaican side that appears low on confidence and is struggling for goals, they could well nick this 1-0 and you can back that to be the case at 11/2.
