      Hannover vs Hertha Berlin Predictions

Hannover started this season very poorly, failing to win any of their opening seven Bundesliga fixtures and losing five of them to leave them struggling in the relegation zone.

After avoiding the relegation playoff by just two points last season, it didn’t look like they would be much safer in the coming campaign.

Back to back wins against Werder Bremen and Cologne got them out of trouble for a while though. They lost against Eintracht Frankfurt after this though before being eliminated from the DFP Pokal by Darmstadt.

But they returned to winning ways quickly with a 2-1 win over Hamburger on Sunday to take them to 14th position in the table with 11 points from their opening 11 matches.

Hertha Berlin have made a dramatic improvement on last season though. They finished last season in 15th position, only avoiding the relegation playoff on goal difference.

But they currently sit in 6th position in the Bundesliga and have already picked up almost half as many points as they did in the entirety of last season despite being less than a third of the way into the campaign.

Hertha Berlin haven’t really slipped into a period of bad form this season, and 11 matches in they are yet to suffer back to back defeats. They have won three of their last five matches in all competitions and lost twice.

Their consistently solid performances leave them with an opportunity to put the pressure on the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke, with a win on Friday seeing them move as high as 4th position ahead of the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

But Hannover haven’t lost any of the five meetings between these sides, with three draws and two wins keeping Hertha Berlin at bay.

But Hertha Berlin have tended to secure victories against the lower quality sides in the division this season. Their losses have come against the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, and Wolfsburg whilst they have beat teams such as Ingolstadt, Hamburger, Cologne, and Stuttgart.

This makes me lean towards a Hertha Berlin win on Friday, especially considering that Hannover have lost four of their last five home games in the Bundesliga. Excellent value odds of 9/5 for a Hertha Berlin win make it all the more attractive as well, so I’m backing that along with a 1-0 correct scoreline at 8/1.
