Houston Dynamo vs FC Cincinnati Predictions

  • Houston Dynamo have drawn their last three matches.
  • FC Cincinnati are unbeaten in their last three away games – winning all three.
  • After conceding ten in their first three away games, FC Cincinnati’s defence has been breached only once in the last three.

Improving Cincy have style to deny Dynamo

Houston Dynamo will try to maintain their surprise playoff challenge on Sunday against an improving FC Cincinnati at BBVA Stadium.

The Texans have won three and drawn two of their five home MLS matches this term to show clear improvement from their woeful 2020 campaign in which the Orange Crush finished bottom in the west.

Defensively, Tab Ramos’ men are still sub-par.

They have kept only one clean sheet on home turf so far and couldn’t capitalise fully on a two-goal lead in last week’s 2-2 draw with Portland Timbers.

FC Cincinnati were the only team worse than the Dynamo in the MLS last year and 2021 began in the same vein for Jaap Stam’s side.

But, since taking only one point from their first four games, the Orange and Blue have claimed nine out of a possible 15 with three straight road wins.

The level of opposition they have beaten may not be the cream of the MLS crop, but Cincinnati do seem to be getting to grips with Stam’s tactical plan.

Back-to-back clean sheets at Chicago Fire and Toronto will engender a feeling of security for them coming into this game.

Houston, who are winless in four, don’t have convincing enough recent form for us to take an odds-on price on them to beat Cincy.

We are taking the draw and Under 2.5 goals as our best bet here because the visitors look capable of drawing the counter-attacking sting of the Dynamo with their possession-based style.

Two of the hosts last three games have finished 1-1 so that is a slight preference to 0-0 in the correct score market.
