      Hull vs Preston Predictions

Unlike much of the division both sides progressed into the 3rd Round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night and have both made solid starts to the season after switching divisions for the new campaign.

Of the relegated clubs it is Hull who have looked the most assured although they did taste defeat for the first time last weekend, after conceding a 98th minute goal at Charlton. At home though they have secured 3 wins out of 3 in all competitions and look excellent value to maintain their 100% record at the KC Stadium at Evens here.

Preston may have beaten under-strength Watford of the Premiership in midweek and may well have enough to stay in this league but the early signs suggest they aren’t going to score a lot of goals. As such they may not have enough quality to compete when they come up against the stronger sides in the division, of which Hull are certainly one, particularly on the road.

Their solitary win did come away from Deepdale in Milton Keynes, where they have an excellent record after numerous League One encounters in recent seasons. However they were beaten by early season pace-setters Ipswich at home last weekend and have only scored 2 goals in their opening 4 Championship games.

Therefore it is hard to imagine that they are going to cause Hull too many problems on Humberside. The hosts haven’t been blowing teams away but Steve Bruce is a manager who knows what it takes to get out of this league and he will gladly settle for another unspectacular win to take them into the international break on 10 points.

We can’t see Preston scoring here and Hull have just enough going forward to keep the North End defence busy throughout and rack up another 2-0 home win at odds of 15/2.
