Inter Miami CF vs Portland Timbers Predictions
- Portland must make one of the longest trips in the MLS to reach Miami, approximately 3200 miles one way!
- Miami won four of their last five home games.
- Portland won just one of their eight away games this season.
A long way from home for Portland
Both Inter Miami and Portland Timbers languish outside of the play-off positions in their respective conferences, so this game could prove pivotal in either side finding some momentum to push on further up the table in search of an MLS Cup appearance.
That momentum is likely going to be easier for Inter Miami to conjure up, as their visitors must make a gruelling 6400 mile round trip to fulfil this fixture, making it one of the longest trips that any side has to complete in the MLS.
Potentially exacerbating the challenge for Portland is their rotten return of just one win in away matches this term (D3, L4) while Inter Miami enjoy a current five-game unbeaten run at home, dropping just two points in the process.
The value lies with Miami
Given the absolute gulf in recent form and similar positions in the table, sticking with the home advantage seems to be the wise option in this clash. Moreover, Miami’s last two home wins came with a 2+ goal margin, including last time out against NY Red Bulls.
As such, we are sticking with Phil Neville’s Inter Miami to come out with a win here at very attractive odds. As for the correct score, a repeat of the 2-0 last time out at home could be a likely outcome.
