      Ipswich vs Preston Predictions

The Tractor Boys have suffered just 2 defeats in 15 matches and are unbeaten in 5 after their 2-1 win at home to an in-form Leeds United in midweek. Ipswich are 5th in the league now, which is where they finished last season and are only 6 points off the automatic promotion places.

This won’t be easy though against a Preston side that are also in good form. Simon Grayson’s men were 2-1 winners at Bristol City on Tuesday night to pick up their 3rd straight win in the league and move level on points with 12th placed Reading. The Lancashire club are exceeding all expectations and barring a major collapse in form, should comfortably beat the drop now, which was their principal aim this season.

They can afford to play with a bit more freedom now and there have been more goals in their recent matches than we were seeing in the opening weeks of the season. Both teams have scored in 3 of their last 4 league matches and against an Ipswich side that like to play football but have the worst defensive record in the top six, backing both teams to score at Evens looks a decent bet.

Preston had lost 3 in a row on the road before their win at Ashton Gate though and this will clearly be a much tougher match than the one they had against struggling Bristol City. There are clearly a few strong sides at the very top of this league but Ipswich are increasingly looking like they are the best of the rest.

It’s over 3 months since the Suffolk club lost against a side not currently in the top 3 positions and they should have just enough to nick this game so consider backing a 2-1 home win at 8/1.
