Italy vs France Predictions
- Italy have won four and drawn one of their last five games
- Both teams have scored in five of the Azzurri’s last seven outings
- Mateo Retegui has 11 goals in Serie A this season
Hosts could do the double
After a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign, Italy have burst back to life in the Nations League, winning four of their five matches and drawing the other despite playing the majority of the game with ten men.
They beat France 3-1 in Paris and host Les Blues on Sunday with both teams guaranteed qualification for the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
France can nick top spot from the Azzurri if they win and produce a three-goal swing on goal difference but looked short on ideas as they were held to a goalless draw by Israel last time out.
Didier Deschamps has come in for more criticism for his playing style as his team have failed to impress after a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.
Italy on the other hand seem to be improving rapidly under top coach Luciano Spalletti and may be worth siding with to top the group in style by doing the double over France.
Both teams have scored in the five of Italy’s last seven games and a repeat of that outcome could be on the cards here, with the home team fancied to win this one 2-1 for correct score purposes.
Mateo Retegui has been one of the most in-form strikers in European football this season, netting 11 times in 12 Serie A games for Atalanta.
He scored twice in the October international break and could get on the scoresheet again here.
