Italy to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Italy manager Lucian Spalletti is looking to give some of his fringe players an opportunity in the USA this week and his makeshift team should show plenty of application. Their prowess could tell in the end, but don’t expect a feast of goals

      Italy 2-0

      Reason for tip

Venezuela have improved over the last couple of years, but they are likely to aim to keep things tight in Fort Lauderdale, so don’t expect Italy to run away with things. A 2-0 win for the Azzurri could be a solid correct-score play.

      Italy vs Venezuela Predictions

      • Nine of Venezuela’s last ten games have featured fewer than three goals
      • Venezuela have lost just two of their last 14 matches
      • Italy have failed to score in just one of their last ten outings

      Spalletti is looking to experiment

It is less than three months until Italy start their defence of their Euros title in Germany and manager Luciano Spalletti is taking the opportunity to take a look at some of his younger players on a two-match trip to the USA which starts with a friendly against Venezuela on Thursday.

The Azzurri secured their place at the finals with a goalless draw against Ukraine in their final group game and many of their established stars, including striker Ciro Immobile have been left at home.

A match against the South Americans give others the chance to impress and that should ensure they are on the ball, but a clash with Venezuela looks a bit tougher than it might have done a little while ago.

South Americans will aim to make life hard

La Vinotinto are seen as one of the weakest teams in South America, which they demonstrated in the last World Cup qualifying campaign when they finished bottom of the Conmebol group with ten points from their 18 games.

However, they have been beaten just twice in their last 14 games and recently earned a 1-1 draw with Brazil as they make their own preparations for the Copa America, which takes place in the USA in the summer.

Their matches tend to be low-scoring with under 2.5 goals being a winning bet in all but one of their last ten and holding out against illustrious European opposition would be regarded as a decent result.

The young Italians’ desire to shine should see them through but don’t expect them to run away with things, with a 2-0 win for Spalletti’s side of possible interest for those looking for a correct-score bet.
