Karlsruher decline to continue

Karlsruher fell to back-to-back defeats in midweek as they were thrashed at Erzgebirge Aue, and the hosts could be in for another difficult evening on Monday.

They come up against a rejuvenated Hamburg side that broke out of a five match winless streak last weekend and have now won two matches on the bounce. Combined with their excellent start to the season, this leaves the visitors just two points adrift of the top spot and with a game in hand on two of the three teams above them.

While Hamburg did manage to keep a clean sheet in midweek, generally speaking their defence has been a let down this season. Prior to their 4-0 thrashing of the dreadful Sandhausen they had conceded in seven games on the trot, and with Karlsruher finding the net in each of their last nine outings we’re expecting the visitors’ defensive problems to return on Monday.

That’s not to say it won’t be a successful evening for Hamburg though. They have scored in all but one of their 12 games this season and have won seven of them, so we’re backing both teams to score along with a repeat of Karlsruher’s last home game for our correct score prediction – a 2-1 defeat.
