Draw

Reason for tip

Atalanta head to Rome as favourites but a run of three away games without a win – a run which includes a draw with relegation-threatened Pisa – makes them hard to back at a shade of odds-against. Lazio aren’t the most solid either, though, drawing five of their last nine Serie A games, and the stalemate appeals.

Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

Goals are likely to be at a premium at the Stadio Olimpico. None of the last three head-to-heads have featured more than three goals and a repeat of October’s 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture is a real possibility, especially with Atalanta’s last away game finishing with the same scoreline.

Lazio vs Atalanta Predictions

  • Six of Lazio’s last ten games have been level after 90 minutes
  • Atalanta have gone three away matches without a win
  • Two of the last three head-to-heads have finished as draws

Top-six hopefuls heading for a draw

Both Lazio and Atalanta came into the season with a top-six finish in Serie A as the minimum target. However, the emergence of Como and improvement of AC Milan means at least one of them is likely to miss out on that goal.

Atalanta in the better position, starting this round of fixtures sitting seventh and six points better off than eighth-placed Lazio, but while they have won their last two matches, each of those victories came in Bergamo.

Raffaele Palladino’s side are much harder to trust on their travels – just 14 of their 39 points have been earned in away games – and that makes them a short price for this trip to the capital.

Capital clash could be cagey

That said, Lazio aren’t exactly in flying form themselves. Maurizio Sarri’s side play great football but they are struggling to get the results to match, with Wednesday’s penalty-shootout victory over Bologna in the Coppa Italia marking the sixth time in ten games that the score has been level after 90 minutes.

Getting over the line is proving to be a problem for Lazio and, as a result, a third draw in four head-to-heads is on the cards.

None of the last three meetings between this pair have featured more than two goals, so expect a cagey and closely fought battle at Stadio Olimpico.
