Leeds vs Crewe Predictions

  • Crewe have picked up just one point from their four League One games this term, failing to score in three.
  • After a disastrous 5-1 opening day defeat at Manchester United, Leeds turned in a much improved display to draw 2-2 with Everton here on Saturday.
  • The hosts haven’t prioritised the cup competitions in recent seasons but will be gunning to get a first win of the season under their belt this Tuesday.

Take a chance on Leeds running riot

Leeds United have turned in a series of questionable cup efforts during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure at the club, but The Whites are expected to approach this Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second round tie with Crewe fairly seriously as they look to bag their first competitive win of the season.

Bielsa and his Leeds side have shown quite blatant disregard for both this competition and the FA Cup in the recent past, with last term’s dismal opening round defeats against Hull City and Crawley Town casing points.

The Whites certainly make zero appeal in the 1X2 betting here at around 1/3 based on the risk that they’ll treat this week’s clash with Crewe as nothing more than a training exercise, though it may pay punters to take a small chance on the hosts running riot.

Crewe simply can’t be fancied taking the gulf between the teams into account and The Railwaymen have earned just one point from their four League One games this term, failing to net in three.

They edged out Hartlepool United 0-1 in the first round, but David Artell’s charges could be in for a long night here should Leeds decide to turn it on.

And Bielsa may well be keen to properly utilise the League Cup this time around, both to bolster his side’s confidence and provide fringe players with a prolonged opportunity to impress. Leeds improved markedly from their 5-1 opening day defeat at Old Trafford to draw 2-2 here with Everton on Saturday, but the Argentine and his squad will surely be keen to get a first win of the season under their belt.

United have netted eight goals in their last three home matches, and with fresh faces set to enter the fray on Tuesday night, a small stakes wager on The Whites covering a two goal handicap is recommended.

Leeds can win this by as many goals as they like if they’re in the right mood, but we’re opting for a 4-0 result in the correct score market alongside our handicap wager.
