Leeds vs Ipswich Predictions
After a flying start, the Tractor Boys have been brought firmly back down to ground by their last two results. First, they lost the top of the table clash against Brighton, going down 3-2 at Portman Road to the Seasiders.
While disappointing, it was far from a disaster at such an early stage in the season but the manner in which they succumbed to a crushing 5-1 defeat at Reading on Friday night was far more concerning and most unexpected given the Berkshire club hadn’t scored in either of their opening home games and have a pretty poor record at the Madejski stadium in recent times.
The challenge for Ipswich will be to pick themselves up in time for this game, but there will certainly have been some soul-searching in East Anglia over the past few days. They may look to be a little more cautious in this one having leaked 8 goals in their last 2 games, but they aren’t the sort of side to completely sit back and look for a draw.
Leeds have had an encouraging start to life under Uwe Rosler in the sense that they are still unbeaten in the league but 5 of their 6 matches have finished level so they are only 12th. They rescued against Brentford at the weekend when Mirko Antenucci scored a 76th minute equaliser.
This is a tough game to call but we should see goals if not an enormous number of them. Both teams have scored in 5 of Leeds’ 6 games so far and the same goes for Ipswich so backing both teams to find the net here at 8/11 looks tempting, especially given the nature of the last two games involving Ipswich when they were all over the place defensively but still carried a forward threat.
With draws at Elland Road, very much common place, you could certainly see things ending all square here. Leeds play some promising stuff but often lack the conviction needed to really take control of games and finish them off. Ipswich are the stronger side but will be wounded by that mauling at Reading and would probably take a point here, to avoid a third straight loss.
Therefore a 1-1 draw looks a likely outcome and you can back that to be the case at 5/1.
