Tip Reasoning

  • Leicester City have won their last three games in a row.
  • Brighton are winless in four games (D3, L1).
  • Patson Daka has five goals and one assist in his last three appearances, only one of which was as a starter.

Resurgent Leicester take on Brighton

Leicester look to have hit their stride after a sluggish start to the season and they head into Wednesday’s EFL Cup clash with Brighton after three straight wins.

The Seagulls saw a six-game unbeaten run ended by Manchester City at the Amex Stadium over the weekend. However, prior to that loss they had drawn three games in a row – including a 0-0 stalemate at Norwich – and they could be set for another defeat at the resurgent Foxes.

Both managers should make changes for this cup fixture but Leicester have greater strength in depth within their squad and that, coupled with home advantage, is likely to prove the difference here. Summer signing Patson Daka started on the bench in the Premier League win at Brentford over the weekend but came on to provide the assist for James Maddison’s winner. The former RB Salzburg man also managed four goals in the Europa League comeback win at Spartak Moscow and if he starts it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see his name on the scoresheet on Wednesday.

A Leicester win is the main bet here and a 2-1 win for the hosts has some appeal in the correct score market. The Foxes haven’t managed a clean sheet in any of their last six games and as Brighton scored against City they may well get a goal here but we’re still anticipating a home win. With Daka expected to start and looking sharp, an anytime effort from the 23-year-old Zambian also looks worth a mention.
