Leicester City to Win

Reason for tip

Everton had 2-0 leads against both Bournemouth and Aston Villa recently but their brittle defence allowed both sides back into those games, which they lost 3-2. They are without a point in the Premier League this term and should be opposed against Leicester, who have shown promise in attack.

Leicester City 2-1

Reason for tip

Goals could fly in at both ends in this contest given the nature of Everton’s recent fixtures. Their last two league games have finished in 3-2 defeats and each of their last three games in all competitions have seen both teams score, so a 2-1 win to the Toffees is the way to go.

Jamie Vardy To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jamie Vardy is still a crucial part of this Leicester team and has already bagged two goals upon his return to the Premier League. He is a worthwhile bet to breach a leaky Everton rearguard.

Leicester City vs Everton Predictions

  • Everton have lost five of their six competitive games this season
  • Both teams have scored in all four of Leicester’s league games this term
  • Two of Leicester’s last three league fixtures have been settled by 2-1 scorelines
  • Jamie Vardy has already scored two goals in this season’s Premier League

Poor start set to continue for deflated Everton

Two teams in search of their first Premier League wins of the season clash on Saturday when Leicester City play host to Everton at the King Power Stadium.

This week Everton insisted they will continue to back manager Sean Dyche, despite the club’s dismal start to the Premier League season and their third-round exit in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

After losing each of their opening four league fixtures against Brighton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, the Toffees were beaten on penalties by Southampton in the EFL Cup following a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

Everton saw just 25 per cent of the ball against Saints and they were too wasteful to bury the chances they did create.

In their recent league encounters, however, it is their rearguard that has let them down.

The Toffees led 2-0 against Bournemouth until the 87th minute in their final game before the international break, only to ship three goals in nine minutes to lose 3-2.

And upon their return after the break, they again spurned another 2-0 lead against Aston Villa, losing 3-2 at Villa Park.

The defensive combination of James Tarkowski and Michael Keane looks past its best, while there is a lack of quality and innovation going forwards, so it is hard to see Everton turning their season around any time soon.

Foxes in pursuit of first league win of the season

Leicester are also winless but their situation looks far less desolate.

The Foxes dug deep to draw 1-1 with Tottenham in their Premier League opener before back-to-back 2-1 losses to Fulham and Aston Villa.

On Saturday, though, they picked up another precious point away to Crystal Palace in a 2-2 draw, although it could have been three points if it were not for Jean-Philippe Mateta’s 92nd-minute equaliser.

Leicester looked dangerous up top, especially on the counter-attack, in that contest and it is in attack where this game could be won.

Vardy showing he can still cut it at the top

Although a veteran of the game, Jamie Vardy has shown he can still perform at the top level, while the pace and trickery of Stephy Mavididi down the flank is also key.

A Leicester win looks like a value bet but Everton have been scoring goals, so in the correct score market, a 2-1 Foxes triumph makes an appeal.

Those after a goalscorer bet, meanwhile, should look no further than Vardy, who has struck twice in his opening four league contests this season.
