Draw

Reason for tip

Unbeaten Lens have been Ligue 1’s draw specialists this season, sharing the spoils in five of their eight domestic games to date, while Lille will head into this derby having not lost in six across all competitions. There may be nothing to separate this in-form pair come the final whistle.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

The last three Derby du Nords to take place at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis have finished all-square after 90 minutes and the two most recent of those ended 1-1. With both teams on unbeaten runs and playing well, that scoreline could be on the cards again.

Lens vs Lille Predictions

  • Lens have not lost in Ligue 1 this season but have drawn five of their eight games
  • Lille are on a six-match unbeaten streak across all competitions
  • The last two meetings between these sides in Lens have finished 1-1

In-form pair set to do battle in Derby du Nord

Both Lens and Lille will head into the first Derby du Nord of the season in terrific form, with the hosts unbeaten in the league, while the visitors have not lost in six across all competitions, a run that includes victories over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

It remains to be seen how much Wednesday’s 3-1 success at Atleti will have taken out of Bruno Genesio’s side, but they did follow up their victory over Real with a league win against Toulouse, while they also earned a hard-fought draw at Monaco in their last domestic fixture.

Lens should be the fresher of the two teams after having a full week to prepare for this game and it is worth noting the hosts are unbeaten domestically since April, a run of 11 matches.

Draw would be a familiar outcome

Lens may be unbeaten but they have drawn five of their eight league games to date this season, including their last two at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis against Lyon and Nice.

With only goals scored separating the Blood and Gold from Lille in the early-season standings, no one would be surprised if this one finished all-square as well, especially as the last three meetings in Lens have all ended in draws after 90 minutes.

The two most recent of those encounters finished 1-1 and a repeat of that scoreline would appear a likely outcome on Saturday.
