Levante vs Espanyol Betting Tips & Predictions

It is crunch time for Levante, whose 6 year stay in the top flight is in serious danger of ending. They are 5 points adrift of safety with only 6 games to play and they really have to win this to put some pressure on the sides above them and give themselves some momentum going into next week’s crunch clash with 17th place Granada. Levante have only taken 1 point from their last 3 games and they’ve not been terribly difficult ones against Deportivo, Betis and Sporting Gijon. They’ve only lost lost 2 of their last 7 at home though and they were against Barcelona and Real Madrid but their failure to beat 3rd bottom Sporting in their last home game is something they may very well live to regret.

Espanyol were beaten 3-1 at home by Atletico Madrid last weekend but it’s not likely to have that damaging a consequence. Prior to that they’d put a great run together taking 8 points from 4 matches to move clear of the drop-zone. They are currently 15th but with an 8 point advantage on the bottom 3 and one more win would almost certainly guarantee the Barcelona club another season in the top flight and they may not even need that.

Levante have to be positive here and try to win this as a draw really will do nothing for them so it should be fairly open. They have won 4 of their last 7 at home so should carry a bit of confidence into it despite them propping up the table and they certainly have carried much greater attacking threat on their own ground than on the road. Espanyol have looked better going forward in recent weeks too and both teams have scored in all of their last 5 games so backing both teams to score at 17/20 here looks a solid punt in the circumstances.
