Levante looking for vital victory

Levante looked destined for an immediate return to the Segunda Division just a few weeks ago but they’ve managed to put a run together and could move to within touching distance of safety with a victory over Sevilla at home on Thursday.

The Valencian club have three wins and just one defeat in their last six games and they are now just four points behind Alaves in the final safe spot, while Sevilla are only five points ahead of their hosts.

The visitors did manage to end a run of three defeats and a five-game winless streak claiming a much needed three points against Atletico Madrid last time out. However, Atleti were clearly prioritising their European and Copa del Rey commitments and they may find Levante a tougher test this week.

The standout bet here is a home win as Levante have been strong at their Estadi Ciutat de València recently as 10 of their 27 points for the season have come in their last four home games. Levante won the reverse fixture 3-0, and they are facing a Sevilla side who have struggled on their travels with seven defeats and just one win across their last 11 La Liga road games.

Despite their struggles, Sevilla rarely draw a blank on their travels as they’ve scored in five of their last six trips so Levante may need a couple of goals to get three points over the line and a 2-1 win for the hosts has a chance.
