- Granotas have drawn seven of their 15 home matches this season, while Villarreal have seen seven of their 15 away trips end all square.
Lack of goals at Levante
Villarreal have won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions, though we’re deterred from backing the Yellow Submarine this weekend after their midweek European engagement and disappointing 1-2 defeat at home to Osasuna last Sunday.
Unai Emery’s men bounced back from that loss on Thursday to beat Dinamo Zagreb (2-1) and secure their passage to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, though their reverse against Los Rojillos came directly after their first leg victory in Croatia.
Villarreal are clearly and understandably prioritising that competition now with the prize of Champions League football on offer for winning it, so it’s distinctly possible that we could see another below par effort from Emery’s side in this weekend’s derby clash.
Factor in Villarreal’s 13 draws in 30 league games this season including seven from 15 away trips, and you can see why we’re keen to avoid the visitors at a shade of odds-against.
Levante have also drawn four of their last seven here, so we’re forecasting this one to end all square at 1-1 and under 2.5 goals appeals as opposed to playing in the match betting.
Granotas’ last nine league outings have all produced less than three goals and we should be set for another grind at Ciutat de Valencia, especially with the visitors having to cope with another quick turnaround from their European exploits.
