Brighter days ahead for The Imps in 2022

In truth Lincoln have been underwhelming so far this season. Boss Michael Appleton has acted swiftly in the January window in attempt to salvage The Imps season. The addition of Morgan Whittaker on loan from Swansea seems a very shrewd bit of business and he has proved just the ticket already. They are obviously having no issues in front of goal and can take heart from the 5-1 victory when these two sides met at the Abbey Stadium earlier this season.

Cup exploits may catch up with Cambridge

It’s hard to know just what impact last Saturday’s giant-killing of Newcastle will have on the Cambridge players. I’m sure their fans will forgive the players if they aren’t at the races on Saturday. The Cambridge side are likely to be feeling the effect of the monumental shift that was put in at St James’ Park just a week ago. Their Midweek EFL Trophy game against Portsmouth can’t of helped fatigue levels.

The FA Cup game came as a welcome distraction for The U’s as they had been on a poor run in the league leading up to their slaying of the Magpies. Cambridge haven’t scored in their last three league games and have had a particularly difficult time on the road of late. They have won one of their last five games on their travels conceding eleven goals in the process.

Lincoln will be looking to capitalise on their great start to the year and I think they will have too much for a Cambridge in this one. Lincoln to win is my prediction in the outright market and they rank as a confident selection. I think Cambridge’s baron run in front of goal in the league may continue and I will select 2-0 Lincoln in the correct score market.
